We have a participatory worship and decision-making style (see our Constitution). Situation on 8 acres of open and wooded land, yet surrounded by suburbia on all sides, Living Peace&#8217;s green space is home to a wide array of wildlife and provides space for youth sports and dog walking, as well as serving as a quiet and contemplative retreat space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Living Peace Church of the Brethren began on Palm Sunday, 1986, as New Covenant Church of the Brethren. An outreach of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sodcob.org\/\">Southern Ohio District<\/a> of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.brethren.org\/\">Church of the Brethren<\/a> to the state&#8217;s capital, the congregation&#8217;s peace focus over the years led to the December 2005 decision to change our name:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Members of Living Peace&#8217;s congregation spearheaded the drive to create and <a href=\"https:\/\/mershoncenter.osu.edu\/about\/endowed-positions\/chair-peace-studies\">Endowed Chair in Peace Studies<\/a> at The Ohio State University. Living Peace members currently serve on the Chair&#8217;s Consultation Group, along with members of the other Historic Peace Churches.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Members of Living Peace&#8217;s congregation have served on Boards and in other leadership positions for several local, regional, national, and international peace agencies. These organizations include <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/site\/centralohioansforpeace\/Home\/who-we-are\">Central Ohioans for Peace<\/a>, Every Church a Peace Church, Churches Supporting Churches (a response to Hurricane Katrina), Interfaith Center for Peace, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.onearthpeace.org\/\">On Earth Peace Assembly<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cpt.org\/\">Christian Peacemaker Teams<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>And Living Peace called one of its owns to be a Peace Minister to the larger community.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Living Peace Church of the Brethren is a small, informal congregation in Northwest Columbus, Ohio.
